The Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity presented Turning Hope into Homes, A night of gospel with The Kingdom Heirs and Special Guest, The Foundations. The concert was held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge.

The concert proceeds went to benefit the Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity. The charity has recently been donated a generous plot of land that is 6.7 acres on Crooke Road in Jefferson City and concerts proceeds will begin construction on the land. This proposed development will be used to provide affordable home ownership for lower income families.

Jefferson County Habitat plans to build anywhere from 12 to 15 houses, depending on the engineers recommendation. The cost of the infrastructure of roads and sewers for the neighborhood is estimated at $250,000. While they are raising the money for the improvements, they plan to begin construction on the first home on Crooke Rd in March of 2013.

Habitat is also partnering with Chase Bank in an arrangement in which Chase will notify the Habitat for Humanity of any foreclosures they have in the count. After assessing the property, if they determine that it would be feasible to rehabilitate it, Chase will donate the foreclosed home to Habitat.

Donations and purchases at the Habitat ReStore directly benefit the charity. Because the store is staffed by volunteers and most of the merchandise is donate, there is a low over head with the remaining funds going to support building efforts.
