Happy Mother’s Day

She’s the one that nurtured you, comforted you, held you, raised you. Ballgames, band-aids and dance recitals, she was there. She has many names such as mother, mom, mama, and mommy.

Today is the day labeled to honor her, but we should honor her every day.

Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908, who led the movement after her mother had passed. The celebration became a national holiday in 1914. The holiday generates more money than Valentine’s Day for flower and greeting card companies, at a staggering $21.4 Billion dollars, compared to just over $19 Billion generated by Valentine’s Day. Needless to say, we love our mamas!

From all of us here at the Jefferson County Post, thanks mom for all you do! Have a blessed Mother’s Day.
