Tennessee Athletics Announce Salute to Service Week

Following the popularity of the inaugural 2018 Salute to Service Weekend, Tennessee Athletics is proud to announce its 2019 Salute to Service Week, Nov. 24 – Dec. 1.

This year’s week-long celebration of Tennessee’s ultimate Volunteers will include special opportunities for veteran, military and first-responder families to attend a football (limited tickets), men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball event free of charge.

During the 2018 campaign, UTAD welcomed more than 2,100 military and veterans from across the southeast for the three-game weekend. Tennessee Athletics hopes this year’s extended initiative will attract upwards of 5,000 proud Volunteers.

Tickets to the Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt football game on Nov. 30 will be distributed directly to 10 local and state veteran, military and first-responder organizations that Tennessee Athletics has identified as longstanding partners. Tennessee Athletics does not facilitate individual requests for tickets.

Current military members, veterans and first responders may present a military ID, DD 214, license certification, state-issued ID, badge or other employer-issued identification at ticket locations outside of Thompson-Boling Arena for complimentary admission to men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball competitions during Salute to Service Week. Complimentary admission is based on availability.

Additional Salute to Service promotions will be announced at a later date.

Volunteer of the Game
Met with an overwhelming response and a standing ovation from Vol fans at each 2018 home football game, a pre-selected “Volunteer of the Game” will be honored at each competition this fall. Food City, a long-standing partner of Tennessee Athletics and the Vol Network, will enhance this year’s Volunteer of the Game initiative by providing each Volunteer of the Game with more than $500 worth of gift certificates and gear. The Volunteer of the Game provides tribute to the history of the Tennessee Volunteers nickname and the proud heritage of The Volunteer State.
