KEITH HORNER

Keith Horner, 82, of Rutledge, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He accomplished much in his lifetime through hard work and integrity. He was a developer and a staunch Democrat with a career in politics serving as Road Commissioner and County Commissioner for Hamblen County, but his biggest love was farming. God blessed his hard work by giving him two beautiful farms in Rutledge, Tennessee and Macon, Mississippi. His fierce, steadfast provision and care for his entire family was a remarkable example of his strong character.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hattie Horner, and siblings Lanny and Jack Horner. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gearlene Douthat Horner, daughters Beth (Craig) Smith, Charlene (Robert) Wolfe, Patty Wells, his close sister Mitzi Edmonds, and sister in law, Ethel Davis. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Amber (Jake) McAnally, David (Cassidy) Wolfe, Amy (Zak) Clift, Sam (Allison) Wolfe, Clint (Emily) Sawyer, Faith (George) Isaacs, Rob (Clara) Wolfe, Sarah Beth (Jacob) Matthews, Jake (Lara) Sawyer, and Wesley Wells, along with five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Last of all, he is survived by his lifelong friend Johnny Baskett, Sr. with whom he enjoyed many fun times and mischievous pranks during their younger days.
His family is thankful for the loving and compassionate care by Jimmie Harbin, the staff at Signature Assisted Living, and the amazing doctors and nurses at Jefferson Memorial.
