EMMA SENTER

Emma Brown Senter, 88, of Talbott, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2019. Emma was a retired teacher from the Hamblen County school system and Morristown City Schools where she taught for many years. She rarely went to the bank, grocery store, church or a restaurant without running into one of her former students. She loved reminiscing with each of them about the time she had them in her classroom. Emma also enjoyed giving out her handmade crosses to everyone she met, spreading kindness, love and the gospel.
After retirement, Emma enjoyed donating her time to the North American Mission Board, SBC, with her husband, Charlie Senter, instructing adults and children in tutoring programs, mission organizations and churches. She was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Morristown. She loved to travel, and for several years she and Charlie spent time visiting all 50 states as well as many iconic locations throughout Europe. One of her favorite pastimes was crafts. Emma was an excellent seamstress. She loved to crochet and quilt. She created many beautiful keepsakes we all will treasure for years to come.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charlie Senter, her parents Edgar and Hettie Brown and her brother, Earl Brown. She is survived by her daughters Lisa Senter McDonald and Jane Senter Alford; four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, her sister Kathleen Brown Bright, brothers Horace Brown and Dana Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Receiving of friends will be from 10:00am to 11:00am Saturday, October 12 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Funeral service will follow starting at 11:00am, with the Rev. Danny Georges officiating. Following the service there will be a procession to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a brief gravesite service and internment.
Charlie and Emma are together once again.
