Lady Patriots Soccer Honor Senior Players

Tuesday night, the Jefferson County Lady Patriots Soccer team hosted the Powell High School Lady Panthers. This would be the last regular season home game for the Lady Patriots, and they took the opportunity to honor the seniors of the team.

The Lady Patriots were coming off a loss to Knoxville West, and The Lady Panthers were fresh off a loss to Maryville, so both teams took to the field with something to prove.

Powell was the first to score, about 15 minutes in to the first half. Even after aggressive defense provided by Jefferson County, the Lady Panthers were able to kick the ball in to the goal just minutes before the end of the first half once again. Despite coming close, even hitting the crossbar twice, the Lady Patriots were unable to make a goal in the first half. The halftime break came with a score of Powell – 2, Jefferson County – 0.

The Second half started looking up for the Lady Patriots, with a sneaky goal from the corner by senior Abby Zander, the Lady Patriots were sneaking their way back in to the game. Down 2-1, Jefferson County continued to dribble the ball down the field, dangerously close to the goal once again, but was block by the goalie.

The Lady Panthers placed the final bite in to the game in the form of a final goal with just two minutes before the finish of the game.
