Jefferson County Falls to Hardin Valley in Senior Night Battle

Senior Night for the Jefferson County Patriots fell just short of what they hoped for the last home game of the season.

Despite a strong performance by the Patriot defense, the Hardin Valley Hawks took home the victory in Dumplin Valley Friday night.

The first score for Hardin Valley came early in the game, the second time they had the ball in possession, with a slant pass from quarterback Jacob Smith. The result was a breakaway run that ended in a 70 yard touchdown by Braden Scholff.

The battle of the defenses continued with the second and third quarters of play. Both teams struggled to move the ball, though the Patriot defense was able to grab picks thanks to the hands of Gage Bolin, Josh Miller, and Bradee McCoy. Quarterback Tanner Atkins struggled to connect with his receivers during the game, though, and the Patriot offense could not hit paydirt for the evening .

Late in the fourth quarter, Hardin Valley found the hole in the Patriot defense and after a previous 55 yard run, the Hardin Valley Hawks scored one last time to solidify the win.

The 14-0 loss moves the Patriots to 3-6, loosing their last 6 games. Jefferson County has a bye next week to mend and regroup before hitting the road against the Farragut Admirals. The last time the two teams met, the 4-4 Admirals defeated the Patriots 21-51.
