21th Annual Jefferson County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

When: Monday, January 20, 2020

Where: Marchers gather at 9:45 a.m., at the dike in Dandridge

March to the historic Jefferson County Courthouse begins at 11 a.m.

Celebration will be in the main courtroom.

Citizens for Justice, Equality and Fairness, a multi-cultural grassroots organization working for racial justice in Jefferson County, is sponsoring its 21st annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Dandridge on Monday, January 20, 2020. After gathering at the dike, marchers will proceed at 11 a.m. to the historic Jefferson County Courthouse, where the program will begin shortly after in the main courtroom.

This year’s theme is “Future of the Past and the Present.” The featured speaker is Cecil C. Mills Jr., Greeneville. Young people from county schools, churches, and from Carson-Newman University, and city and county mayors will participate in the program celebrating Dr. King’s life

To reach the dike in Dandridge, take I-40 Exit 417, and follow highway 92S to Dandridge. Turn right at the traffic light on Gay St., then left at the corner of Gay and Main. The dike is on the right, past the Dandridge Town Hall. Follow the road to the top of the dike.
