Morristown Police Department

It is the goal of the Morristown Police Department to do our part to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. We will be changing several of our procedures and protocols temporarily.

Some property crime reports will be taken by phone and initial follow-up by investigators may be done by telephone contact.

Officers will try to limit the exchange of any items between themselves and individuals they contact. For example, people receiving citations from our officers may not be required to sign the citation since the interaction is captured on the officer’s body-worn camera. Additionally, the officer may ask the person to display his or her driver’s license, but the officer would not physically hold it.

Personnel have been assigned dedicated areas to conduct victim and suspect interviews that allow for appropriate distancing.

As always, copies of police reports are available in person at City Center. If the public would like to receive a copy of their crash report via email without coming into our building, they may contact the MPD at crashreports@mymorristown.com. Incident reports may be received electronically by contacting our records division at blangdon@mymorristown.com.

At this time, we will not be providing fingerprinting services for non-law enforcement purposes such as for state licensing and job applications.

While some tasks may take longer to complete than they have in the past, we believe that these procedures can help keep the community and our personnel safe.
