Jefferson County Schools Update – CORONAVIRUS

Update concerning the coronavirus facing our nation and community. Academic resources and meal distribution sites being provided by Jefferson County Schools.

ACADEMICS

Jefferson County Schools is providing a list of academic resources for students to use during the next two weeks while we all experience this extended school closure. The list is posted on the Jefferson County Schools District webpage, district social media outlets, and copies will be provided at the meal distribution sites beginning on Tuesday.

The resource list is divided into grade strands and provides opportunities for students to gain additional practice. The work on these sites will not be graded and is intended for practice and remediation. High School students that are involved in some classes such as AP and Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment, will continue to work with their teachers utilizing technology.

Classroom teachers in all grades will continue to communicate with parents using email and other apps during this time.

STUDENT NUTRITION

Jefferson County Schools will provide free meals to children 18 years old and under during the extended school closure beginning March 24, 2020.

I want to make you aware that the State Health numbers now reflect a second confirmed case of coronavirus in Jefferson County. No other information is available at this time but should this second confirmation have ties to our school system I will make the appropriate notifications and update our parents.

One final reminder, Jefferson County Schools will remain closed through Friday, April 3, 2020. My office will continue to stay in contact with state and local officials and I will provide updates as needed. Your support, patience, and understanding is appreciated.
