New Pricipals Announced For Jefferson Middle and Maury Middle Scool

Jefferson County Schools announce new lead principals for Jefferson Middle School and Maury Middle School. This announcement follows the completion of interviews over the last month.

“Every child deserves highly effective teachers and every school deserves highly effective leaders. It is our goal to provide highly effective leadership teams at each school location. These moves will help accomplish this goal. It’s an exciting time for these individuals and the schools involved.” – Director of Jefferson County Schools, Dr. Shane Johnston

JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mrs. Tammy Beach has been named principal at Jefferson Middle School beginning July 1, 2020. Mrs. Beach is a veteran educator with experience as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, math specialist, and curriculum coach. The principal position is open following Dr. Kevin Cline’s departure to become the principal at Jefferson County High School.

“I am excited and extremely honored to be named as the principal of Jefferson Middle School. I am looking forward to working with the faculty and staff as we continue to grow to ensure success for all our students at JMS.” (Mrs. Beach)

MAURY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mr. Ron Overton has been named principal of Maury Middle School beginning July 1, 2020. Mr. Overton currently is the lead principal at Rush Strong School. The available position is the result of Mrs. Michelle Walker’s move from principal to Supervisor of Secondary Curriculum. Over the years, Mr. Overton has served Jefferson County Schools as classroom teacher and principal. His lead principalships include Talbott Elementary and Rush Strong School.

“My time at Rush Strong School has been among the most enriching years of my career. The RSS staff is dedicated to improving the lives of students and the community is very supportive. I look forward to transitioning to Maury Middle School and doing my part in supporting the staff and community in the work of positively impacting the lives of our students.” (Mr. Overton)
