Jefferson County Schools Requests Input For School Opening Plan

Jefferson County Department of Education continues to develop plans for re-opening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year. District leadership teams have been studying four different plans to begin school in August, but the scenarios are designed to allow for transition from one scenario to another as smoothly as possible in the event circumstances become more, or less, stringent.

Part of this process is gathering information from stakeholders and the district has created a survey for parents, employees, and citizens that serve as stakeholders in our school system. The survey will be opening today, Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 6:00 PM and will remain open through 11:59 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

The survey will be posted on the Jefferson County School’s webpage and Jefferson County School’s social media pages. Information gained from this survey will help guide decisions on how to re-open schools as safely as possible. The Jefferson County Board of Education will review the final recommendations and approve a plan for re-opening in late June 2020.

“It is our goal to have students return to school as quickly as possible, but we want to make sure we exercise caution and do our best to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for students, parents, and school employees.” (Johnston)
