Douglas Lake Exceeds Full-Pool This Week

If Douglas Lake appears to be bursting at the seams it is not a figment of imagination. Lake levels for Douglas exceeded full pool this week, ahead of what is expected to be a wet weekend. Full pool for Douglas is 990.00 but Tuesday’s readings were 993.93. Though the waters are certainly lapping the shores, the local lake is still lower than reading taken at the same time during the 2018 season.

While Douglas is putting up numbers exceeding full pool, Cherokee Lake is actually running about the same amount under full pool. The waters of Cherokee Lake reach full pool at 1073.00 but this week the water level is 1070.57. Some lake enthusiasts are contributing the high waters of Douglas to rainy North Carolina weather. Whatever the reason, those interested in competitive and leisure fishing are not letting a little extra water go to waste as they rushed to put their lines in the water at pull out the big one.
