Tennessee House Republicans reelect Jeremy Faison as caucus chairman

Members of the Tennessee House Republican Caucus reelected Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby, as caucus chairman during a leadership meeting held inside the House Chamber of the Tennessee State Capitol on Nov.24. Faison was first elected to the leadership position in 2019.

As Republican caucus chairman, Faison will preside over meetings and is the second ranking officer of the caucus. His duties include calling meetings as requested by the Republican majority leader, presiding and maintaining order at such meetings;  providing a forum whereby the will of the majority shall prevail, while protecting the rights of those whose views appear to be in the minority at a given time; establishing and maintaining communications with members regarding legislative matters; aiding and assisting the other officers upon their request; appointing a parliamentarian to advise the caucus of the House rules; coordinating with the Senate Republican caucus chairman to facilitate opportunities for joint Senate and House activities, events, and meetings, and supporting the Republican majority leader with fundraising efforts.

“The House GOP is fortunate to have a membership full of capable and talented leaders; I am incredibly honored to have the support of my colleagues to continue serving as their caucus chairman,” said Faison. “We had a successful 111th General Assembly legislative session, and I look forward to building on our recent efforts so we can create more opportunities for all Tennesseans. Together, we will continue working to make sure Tennessee remains the best state in the nation to live, work, raise a family, and retire.”

Faison has strong institutional knowledge, fundraising and political experience that is critical in this Republican leadership position. He is focused on building upon the GOP’s priorities and successes so all Tennesseans may improve their lives through fiscally responsible, conservative initiatives.

“Congratulations to Jeremy Faison on being reelected by his peers to continue serving as Republican Caucus Chairman,” said House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville. “Chairman Faison has prioritized the needs of his community, and he has fought for the citizens of our state throughout his time in the House. I look forward to working with him as we prepare for the upcoming legislative session and during the 112th General Assembly.”

House Majority Leader William Lamberth, R-Portland, said “It is an honor to work alongside Chairman Faison and the rest of our Republican members who stand up for taxpayers and families across the Volunteer State. We are prepared to meet any challenge that comes our way with the leadership team we have in place. I am confident our state’s brightest days are still ahead.”

The 112th General Assembly officially begins on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.
