Jack Orstead

Jack Orstead, Sr., 79, of Dandridge, Tennessee was called home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 9, 2021 after a brief illness. Jack was born June 1, 1941 in Sandwich, Illinois to Lawrence and Cathryn Orstead. As a farmer’s son, Jack enjoyed an all-American midwestern childhood along with his many siblings. Surviving siblings include Dick (Sharon) Orstead, Karen (John) Curry, Sid Orstead, Nancy (Dick) Radtke, and Rick (Karen) Orstead all of Northern Illinois. Jack met the love of his life, Marlene (Fauth) whom he married in 1959 and would spend the next 61 years devoted to her. Jack’s journey through life took him to many places and he enjoyed the great adventures along the way. From coaching little league baseball for Jimmie’s Hot Dogs for Aurora Boys Baseball to answering God’s call to enroll at Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and graduating in 1985. His faith was near and dear to him and his favorite ministry memories were a mission trip to Appalachian Mountain and street outreach ministry in Knoxville in his later years. Jack was always a hard worker supporting his family and spent many years in the printing industry as a binder. Other passions Jack enjoyed were cheering for the Chicago Cubs during baseball season and the Chicago Bears during football season, solving crossword puzzles, sneaking chocolate and taking care of his home and property. Jack’s greatest achievement was indeed the family he created and built with Marlene.
