Jefferson County Fire Departments and other First Responders spent Friday evening battling a large blaze on the Chestnut Hill side of the Green Bridge in Dandridge. The house fire, which broke out around 7 pm on Friday, was challenging due to the location of the home. All Jefferson County Fire Departments were on hand in some capacity. Some Departments were on location and others picked up coverage and provided support for those that were on the scene. The Jefferson County Rescue Squad manned a Rehab Station for local firefighters and other area departments that responded, as well. Soft access roads combined with heavy equipment and limited access to water created difficulty for the Firefighters as they battled the flames. The home was inhabited and the family members and pets escaped unharmed. The Green Bridge and a portion of Hwy 92 were shut down for a time, to allow for water to be carried to the scene of the fire. Information provided shortly before midnight confirmed that the fire was under control, however crews were expected to be on the scene for several more hours. The cause of the fire was still to be determined at the time of this article.
