Jefferson County Clerk, Frank C. Herndon, is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for County Clerk in the May 3rd Republican Primary. Herndon is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and says, “I have been honored to serve the citizens of Jefferson County as your County Clerk for the past eight years, and I respectfully ask for your vote and support to continue that service.” Herndon received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Carson-Newman University and has earned the designations of Certified Public Administrator and County Administrative Professional through the University of Tennessee’s Institute for Public Service. He is also a 2017 graduate of Leadership Jefferson County.

During his tenure, Herndon and his staff have accomplished a great deal through their dedication, hard work, and great partnerships with area organizations. He has opened a satellite office in Jefferson City with the support of the mayor and county commission to bring in-person county clerk services to that area of the county, increased online services that are available to Jefferson County citizens, and provided added conveniences of Passport Photos and Birth Certificates. Three self-service vehicle registration renewal kiosks have been placed in Jefferson County through partnerships with businesses and public officials in Jefferson City, White Pine, and the Indian Creek/Chestnut Hill communities to give Jefferson County citizens additional locations for renewing vehicle registrations. Herndon has also partnered with Jefferson County High School’s Service-Learning Program to have students actively volunteering in the office.

Herndon currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Dumplin Valley, Secretary/Treasurer of the Tennessee Association of County Clerks, Secretary of the Jefferson County Festival Charities Board, and is a former Board Member of the County Officials Association of Tennessee. He volunteers with the JCHS Sports Medicine program as a team paramedic and is a member of the Jefferson County Rescue Squad. Prior to being your Jefferson County Clerk, Frank was a paramedic with the Jefferson County Emergency Medical Service for 16 years. Herndon says, “Serving the citizens of Jefferson County through my employment and volunteer roles is an honor and I humbly ask for your vote and support to continue that service as your County Clerk.”

Frank and his wife Diana have three children: Jasmine who is a graduate student at Milligan University; Tanner who is a senior at Jefferson County High School; and Wayne who is in seventh grade at Jefferson Middle School. Frank is the son of Danny Herndon of White Pine and the late Mary Charles Hardy Herndon. The Herndon family resides in New Market and are active members of New Market Baptist Church where Frank serves as a deacon and Diana serves as the nursery coordinator.
