Randall “Coach” Bradley announces his candidacy in the May 3rd Republican primary for re-election to the school board position in District 1 which includes the voting precincts of Chestnut Hill, Swannsylvania, Dandridge and Piedmont. Coach Bradley is married to Carol Byrd Bradley, a retired educator with 39 years in the Jefferson County School System. They have two children, Casey and Mary Ellen, who attended Jefferson County Schools and graduated from the University of Tennessee. They have 2 grandchildren, Isabel, who is currently a sophomore at the University of Tennessee and Georgia, a junior at Grand Blanc High School in Michigan. The Bradleys are members of Dandridge First United Methodist Church where Carol sings in the choir. After retiring from the school system Randall has served as a volunteer with the GSMNP as a member of the Cades Cove bicycle patrol and also at Sugarlands Visitor Center information desk. Randall and Carol love to hike, ride bicycles and travel.

Coach Bradley

  • is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was stationed in France and Germany and served as a military policeman
  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Carson-Newman University and a Master’s of Education from Tusculum College
  • taught at Maury High School and Jefferson County High School as a biology teacher for 36 years
  • coached girls basketball at Maury High School and JCHS for 15 years
  • served 2 terms on the County Commission during his tenure as a teacher
  • since his retirement from the school system has served 3 terms on the school board representing District 1

During his tenure as a member of the school board working with the Director of Schools and Finance Director, the school board has

  • increased pay for teachers and non-certified personnel
  • done away with portables at our schools
  • presented a balanced budget with no tax increase to county commission for the past seven years
  • worked to repair needs at all schools using fund balance and grant funds
  • implemented plans to renovate and remodel Piedmont Elementary School
  • increased security measures at schools
  • worked with parents to resolve issues

“If elected I will continue to work with members of the school board and the Director of Schools to ensure that all Jefferson County students have access to safe schools, exemplary teachers and a curriculum that will prepare them for adulthood. Your vote and support will be appreciated.”
