Katy “Fox” Huffaker, District 1 Jefferson County Commissioner

Katy “Fox” Huffaker is announcing her candidacy for reelection as a representative of District 1 for the Jefferson County Commission. Katy is the wife of Keith Huffaker. They have two children. She is the daughter of Nancy Fox and the late Buford Fox.

Katy is an avid volunteer and believes that it takes active, interested citizens to positively shape the community. Katy is a member of First Baptist Church in Dandridge. She was the recipient of the Jefferson County Schools “School Bell Award” in 2013-2014 for her volunteer work at Dandridge Elementary School. She served as a Board Member of the Jefferson County Historic Society, completed Leadership Jefferson County, served as a Jefferson Joins Committee Member (Jefferson Health Council) and currently serves on the Jefferson Memorial Tennova Hospital Board of Directors. In addition, Katy currently serves on the following Jefferson County Commission Special Committees: Finance, Facilities, Public Records, Long Range Planning and Jefferson County 230th Celebration.

Katy graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1988 and has a degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee. For several years, she worked in an analytical environmental laboratory setting for entities related to the U.S. Department of Energy. Through Katy’s educational background and work experience, she developed skills in research, analytical problem solving and leadership.

“Our community is a blended mix of local multigenerational families, retirees and others moving here in hopes of a better/healthier life. Jefferson County was built on religion, agriculture, education and commitment to providing a better life for citizens and future generations. Our county is rich in history, fellowship and natural beauty and we need to maintain the beauty and integrity of our great county.”

“I support our local police, roads, landfill, Emergency Medical Services, public service workers and school personnel. They are critical to the success of Jefferson County. I will continue to be fiscally responsible, proactive with maintenance and county department needs, focused on economic development/job creation, and supportive of our county workforce.”

Katy is conservative, ethical, and responsible. She also uses common sense when making decisions. She has been tested and will be running as a Bona Fide Republican. “I would proudly continue to serve the citizens of District 1 if given the opportunity. I am asking for your vote and support in the Republican Primary on May 3rd. Early voting begins April 13th.”
