Bethany Jones Seeks City Council Seat

Bethany Jones, Candidate for Jefferson City Council

Bethany Jones of Jefferson City officially announces her candidacy for City Council.

Bethany, 35, was born and raised in Pike County, Kentucky and has called Jefferson County home for the past 12 years, living first in Swannsylvania before buying her first home in Jefferson City in 2017. She shares that home with her husband Darryl Glenn Jones II, an employee of Sitel in Morristown, and their three cats.

Bethany is a 2005 graduate of East Ridge High School in Lick Creek, Kentucky and 2010 graduate of Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. She obtained her state certification as a public library manager in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Library Science from the University of Alabama. She has worked at Dandridge Memorial Library for just under nine years, serving as library director for seven of those years. She also served on the Jefferson County Census Committee in 2020.

“Politics has always interested me,” Bethany says. “I know that isn’t the case for a lot of people—especially young people. A big reason for that, I believe, is seeing the same names on the ballot every time. If nothing else, I hope to offer people a new name and a new choice.”

Bethany is committed to seeing Jefferson City live up to its potential as a “Gig City” and the commercial and business hub of Jefferson County, while also ensuring its infrastructure can keep up with the city’s growth. “Our town has incredible potential,” she says. “If elected, my goal is to do what I can to see that we live up to that potential and give future generations even more to look forward to.”
