Saturday is a big day for Isaiah 117 House. For those who have seen posters and fund-raising events for the local Isaiah 117 House and have wondered exactly what the non profit is about, Isaiah 117 House provides a safe, non threatening place for children that have been removed from their home because it is unsafe. Kids who are removed from their home often have to await foster placement in uncomfortable and scary locations such as the Department of Children’s Services Office. While the DCS does important and wonderful work, it is not meant to be a homey environment. Isaiah 117 House provides a friendly, loving place that feels more like the type of home that children need and deserve. Sometimes it takes a few hours for placement and sometime it takes a little more time. Either way, the time that a frightened child spends with volunteers who can focus on them and their needs can pave the way to an easier transition to a new living situation.

Community support for Isaiah 117 House has been tremendous. Local business owners, school clubs and active volunteers have come together to make the dream a reality and they continue to provide physical and financial support for the important non profit. This week there will be two fund raisers for Isaiah 117 House. One, a Charity Car Show, will be held at Jefferson County High School on Saturday, November 5th from 9am-2pm. It is sponsored by the Jefferson County High School Service Learning Class. Later that day, a Tailgate Party complete with food and live entertainment will be held at the Carriage House in Jefferson City. The event will begin an hour before kick off for the Tennessee /Georgia football game. Tickets can be purchased via Owen’s Restaurant in Dandridge. There will also be a silent auction at the event with items donated from local businesses.

The community coming together to help people help children in need is truly the definition of “good stuff”.
