Phillip Batts New DOE Transportation and Safety Supervisor

Phillip Batts

Phillip Batts is a familiar face to many in Jefferson County. He attended school in Jefferson County and is a proud graduate of Jefferson County High School. Phillip is also known to many through his service on the Dandridge Police Department where he was Sergeant over Patrol and a Training Officer before making the move to the Jefferson County Department of Education as Transportation and School Safety Supervisor.

Supervisor Batts has held his current position since November of 2022 and he brings experience and enthusiasm to the job. He expresses his excitement to be in a position to help make a better, easier and safer situation for students and staff. He is encouraged by the dedication of Director Arnold and is looking forward to what the future brings in Jefferson County.

It is important to Supervisor Batts to have a hands on relationship with the students, drivers, staff and schools. He still functions as a reserve officer with the Dandridge Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and makes it a point to be on sight should any issues arise in the schools across the county. Batts says that working in a system that has bus drivers with 47 years experience carrying Jefferson County students shows the level of commitment to students that is so common in Jefferson County.

Phillip is married to Monica Pratt Batts and has two children that attend Jefferson County Schools.
