Go Vols thirty times – Vols 88, Wildcats 58

I’d like to thank the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team for making my Saturday a bit brighter.  I sat down prepared to watch the Kentucky Wildcats invade our arena seats, get every call, and eventually outdistance my beloved Vols.  Wow!  Was I ever surprised.  The Vol faithful did their job, keeping blue out of the arena and the Vol hoopsters did the rest, running the Wildcats out of Tennessee with their tails tucked firmly between their legs.  Even the refs got in on the joy, blowing a call on a jump ball in UT’s favor.  I know, I know.  The Vols got a call against Kentucky.  Dumbfounding, to say the least.  (Don’t get too excited, though.  There were three horrible foul calls on Stokes.)

The basketball Vols pulled away from Kentucky and won by thirty points.  Yes, thirty.  They knocked down buckets and Wildcats with regularity.  They ran the court and ran over the Big Blue.  They even left Coach Calipari speechless.  As for me, they left me with a smile, a great big ‘what a beautiful day’ smile.  So thank you, Cuonzo Martin and the Tennessee basketballers.  It’s not often a UT versus UK basketball Saturday ends as happy as that in Big Orange country.  The Vol faithful owe you a debt of gratitude as we face north and grin, showing lots of teeth, at least 30, I’d say.  Too soon, Wildcats?  Too bad.  Go Vols.  Go Vols thirty times.
