Jefferson County Family and Community Education Clubs came together on Monday for their first large group meeting. Clubs from Shady Grove, Sandy Ridge, Strawberry Plains and New Market met at the Shady Grove Methodist Church for a Civil War Fashion Show and an annual Award Ceremony. All four clubs in Jefferson County were presented with Master Club certification. According to County Council President Charlotte Moser, club members logged 4,700 volunteer hours in various areas of service. Around 50 individual members met the requirements to be certified as a 100% Member, a designation of high achievement in the club. All four Jefferson County clubs assisted in planning the event and there will be three more County-Wide events this year. The Grainger County 4-H presented the Fashion Show and the Special Guest Speaker was Karen Nelms, Extension Agent II, 4-H Youth Development. Each club in the County meets regularly and the County FCE will be present at the Expo event in March to provide information for anyone interesting in becoming a member of the service and education organization.
