Maury Middle School Students who met the requirements of the National Junior Honor Society were inducted in a Monday evening ceremony. Eligibility for NJHS requires a high academic achievement, as well as demonstrated excellence in the areas of Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship. More than one million students participate in the organization across the Nation and Canada. The National Honor Society celebrated its founding anniversary on February 24th. The organization was established in 1921 and was followed by the National Junior Honor Society in 1929. The history of service and perpetuating a strong commitment to community is the base of the organization. The National Honor Society also provides service and scholarship opportunities for student members.
