Lady Eagles sweep King College

Carson-Newman (3-6) travelled to King College (0-9) and brought home a 9-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Stefy Stand (Ecuador) beat Naomi Reyes in a third-set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 in the no. 1 singles spot. Haleigh Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) faced Mariana Hosomi at no. 2 singles and won 7-6 (5), 7-5. At no. 3 singles, Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) versed Karissa King and won 6-1, 6-3. Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) wrapped up another victory at no. 4 singles beating Amanda Huffaker 6-1, 6-2.

Carson-Newman won the fifth and sixth singles matches by default.

Stand and Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) teamed up against Reyes and Hosomi at no. 1 doubles concluding with an 8-3 decision. At no. 2 doubles, Ott and Chastain faced King and Huffaker and won 8-4.

Carson-Newman secured another win at no. 3 doubles by default.

The Eagles face Tennessee Wesley at home after spring break on March 22.
