Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training class offers limited number of scholarships

Attend information sessions Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. for details

American Red Cross logoThe American Red Cross will offer a limited number of Nurse Assistant Training scholarships for its upcoming class starting the last week in March.  Anyone needing details must attend an information session, which starts at 10:00 a.m. every Thursday at the Red Cross 1741 Triangle Park Drive in Maryville and lasts approximately an hour. No appointment is necessary and there is no obligation to enroll. Individuals completing the training can obtain a Tennessee certification and be working in a high demand industry in eight weeks or less.

The Blount County area has recently shown increased interest in the courses, with as many as 20 attending some of the recent information sessions. “We believe there are a number of reasons that interest is so high at this time,” said Gail Bender, NAT Coordinator. “Class enrollments tend to be higher after New Year’s with people making self-improvement resolutions. Others enjoy a new challenge following a long holiday break. But I believe it has to do with the quality of education the Red Cross provides and the prospect of learning a new skill that can quickly lead to a job in a high demand industry. I think the most exciting aspect for me is being able to offer American Red Cross training opportunities which directly translate to better healthcare for the local community.”

Within Tennessee, The American Red Cross offers training at three select locations; Maryville, Knoxville and Nashville.  In addition to Nurse Assistant training, the Red Cross also offers courses in Phlebotomy, EKG and Patient Care Technician training in Knoxville. It is possible to get a certification and be ready to work in a high demand industry in as little as seven weeks!

Healthcare is listed as one of the hottest growth job markets for the next few years, and American Red Cross in Blount County is proud to assist in meeting that demand by providing the best healthcare training available. American Red Cross offers classes throughout the year.
