Faison’s Business Freedom Act Gains Approval

Representative Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby) sponsored House Bill 311, the Business Freedom Act. HB 311 pushes back against over-bearing government and is a huge step for small business owners. The bill would require state departments to give businesses notification and time to correct a problem before issuing fines. This provision would only apply to new rules and regulations passed by the departments in the past two years; it would also have to be the first type of violation for the business.

“There are times that rule changes take place and small businesses don’t know. We want to make sure that Tennessee is business friendly. Let’s give them some security from government. We’ve done better the past couple of years but, I want to make sure the trend continues. We need to remember that we all serve at the will of the people. There should be an attitude of service from all of our state departments when dealing with small business owners,” said Faison.

The bill moves forward to the Business and Utilities Committee and will be heard next week on Wednesday.
