What Happened To My Tulips?

Tulips are my favorite flower and I used to have good luck with them. They are planted in my front yard and I wait for them to bloom every year. Last year, I had lots of foliage and very few blooms and it looks like it may be the same way this year. Do you have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to help them along?

According to gardening experts, this is a common problem with tulips. Not only are they temperamental about weather, they also tend to need some upkeep for continued blooms season after season. Trimming the foliage back when it begins to turn could help, as well as digging up the bulbs and splitting them. There is also the possibility that you could have underground snails that are robbing the bloom. Lastly, not all varieties of tulips return as well year after year. You might want to invest in a hardier variety if tulips are your favorite spring flower.
