The Director for Jefferson County Department of Ageing, Joan Bolden, is in the process of relocating Jefferson County Senior Services from the basement in the Jefferson City Library Building to the lower level of the Jefferson County Health Department on Industrial Park Drive in Dandridge. Jefferson County Mayor Palmieri and Jefferson County Safety and Facilities Director Longmire were on hand to assist Director Bolden in the move to the new location. Previously, a lack of County space had pushed the Senior Services to a location that was difficult for Seniors to access. The new location became available when emergency services that were previously located in the Health Department relocated to the new Jefferson County Emergency Combination Building next to Tennova Hospital in Jefferson City. Beyond coordinating the local Senior Citizen Centers, the Office of Ageing provides Seniors with important information on State and Federal programs that are impacting to Seniors. Director Bolden stated earlier in the week that she is grateful to the Mayor and Director Longmire for their support in finding a more suitable location for the Office on Ageing. The office will be open from 8am until 4pm and predominately serves clients that are over 60 years of age.
