O.M. “SPORT” GOODMAN

O.M. “SPORT” GOODMAN, age 76, is at rest after a battle with cancer. He was born June 27, 1936 and married to the love of his life and best friend Susan (Rudy) for 52 years. He lived in Indiana most of his life, from farm boy to international problem solver for industry to retired owner of the lakeside home he had always dreamed of. O.M. was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Delco Remy in Security and Fire systems and sat on the board of NFPA, taking that committee green decades before it was fashionable by using computers and email. He was a great lover of dogs. Many stray dogs have benefited from his soft heart.

He is preceded in death by parents Lavelda Rigsbee Goodman and O. Mack Goodman; brother Jon Goodman; niece Monica Rudy Craig; and sister-in-law Lois Spencer. He is survived by his daughters, Gayann (Jeffrey) Raskin and Amy (Kevin) Steigerwalt; his grandchildren, who brought light to his eyes, Jessica Susan and Victoria Mackie Raskin and Luke Allen and Autumn Kay Steigerwalt; his sister, Julie Hill, of Ohio; his brothers-in-law, Wayne Spencer, Monte (Betty) and Clayton (Janet) Rudy, all of Indiana; special nieces Ronda Farmer and Lorrie Duan; many other nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Sassy and Boomer.
