TWRA Annual Fishing Derby A Big Splash With Local Youth

Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency held their annual free fishing day on Saturday, June 8, 2013. To spark interest for young fishermen, TWRA held its other annual event, the Kids Fishing Derby, at a stocked pond on the Wells House property. Families came out to cast their lines, in hopes of landing the big one. TWRA representatives ran the morning and early afternoon event and were assisted by the Jefferson County Rescue Squad. Sponsors for the event included Bucks and Bass, the Bass Pro Shop and Richard Talley, Attorney. The yearly event is designed to spotlight the natural resources that are abundant in Tennessee and is a great opportunity for families to spend the day outdoors enjoying one of Jefferson County’s favorite sports.
