Food Fest at the Dandridge Farmers Market, Saturday July 13, 9AM until Noon

Pea Pickin Hearts 07082013Come downtown to the Dandridge Farmers Market for a community Food Fest. There will be locally-grown fresh foods for sale, music and children’s activities. The Market opens at 9 AM and music by the Pea Pickin’ Hearts begins at 9:30 AM.

Leia’s Wrap Cafe will be selling both a selection of breakfast and lunch wraps, and desserts like her homemade ice cream. The Food Fest is a celebration of the local farmers that work hard to bring us the best fruits, vegetables, meats and baked goods that Jefferson and the surrounding counties have to offer. The Dandridge Farmers Market is located at the corner of Highways 92 and 25/70 (corner of Gay and Meeting Streets – look for the yellow tents.

The Pea Pickin’ Hearts are an Appalachian country music duo based in Gatlinburg, TN.  Happily married, Jon Ives and Rachel Gibson live and work in Gatlinburg, TN while raising their only child Oscar. The picture says it all, they love Appalachian Music and play it to perfection. The Pea Pickin’ Hearts will be playing from 9:30 AM to 11 AM.

Farmers Market Dandridge Logo 450x300Children have an opportunity to plant a pumpkin seed and then watch it grow – later in October they can bring their pumpkin back to the market and have a chance at a prize. This children’s activity is a UT Extension Jefferson County 4-H project under the supervision of Agent Sarah Varden.

Local foods for sale will include Jefferson and Grainger County tomatoes, many varieties of green beans, beets, carrots, garlic, potatoes, several varieties of squash, zucchini, greens, lettuce, sugar snap peas, cooking apples, handmade pasta, baked goods including Scottish breads, cinnamon rolls, plants for your garden and flower bed, grass fed beef and other meats such as chicken, pork and lamb, cage free eggs, handcrafted soaps, mushroom growing kits and logs, and honey.
