Facilities Committee Carmichael Request Information on JCHS Pod 4
The Jefferson County Facilities Committee met on Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse. The Meeting was Called to Order by Committee Chairman Turner. Absent from Roll Call was Committee Member Dockery.
Jefferson County Director of Facilities, David Longmire, informed the Committee that there was an offer to purchase the New Market Ambulance Station for $30,000. The offer expired in March, according to Jefferson County Director of Finance Helton. He stated that the offer was well under the appraised value of both an independent appraiser and the tax assessment. Helton informed the Committee that New Market had expressed an interest in purchasing the building, however had never submitted an offer. Due to the lack of sufficient offers, Helton stated that he received two local bids for auction services-one from Hayes and Associates and one from Wilson and Quarles. The bid from Hayes and Associates was significantly under the bid from Wilson and Quarles. Upon a Motion from Committee Member Carmichael and 2nd from Committee Member Tabor the Committee Approved sending the property to auction with Hayes and Associates with a contracted commission of 3% plus a $2,000 out of pocket cap to include advertising.
Director Longmire stated that the Department of Ageing and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are in their new location in the bottom level of the Jefferson County Health Department Building and both are pleased with their current location. He stated that there is no further information on the status of the former Merritt medical office in Dandridge and that the Mayor will be following up on the issue.
Committee Member Carmichael requested information on Pod 4 at Jefferson County High School, citing concern regarding continued flooding.
The Meeting was Adjourned.
