Bill Wallis Honored By Sons Of The American Revolution

Bill Wallis was honored posthumously on Sunday, July 21, 2013, for his dedication and service to the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Wallis, a resident of New Iberia, Louisiana until his relocation to Jefferson County to be near family, was a member of the Attakapas Chapter of the organization. John Francois, of the Louisiana Chapter, traveled to Dandridge to act as Master for the designation ceremony that marked Mr. Wallis’s burial site. The SAR Color Guard for the ceremony heralded from the John Sevier, Col. Benjamin Cleveland and the Stephen Holston Chapters of the SAR. Tennessee SAR dignitaries attending the event were Charles Dammann, Tennessee Past President and Claude Hardison, President elect of the Tennessee Society. Wallis’ widow, Mrs. Josephine Ware Wallis and his daughter, Caroline Wallis Goddard were on hand to witness the ceremony. Also in attendance were the grandchildren and great grandchildren of the honoree. Wallis’ son in law, Doug Goddard, stated that Wallis was committed to service for his community through his career in education, involvement in the Boy Scouts of America and dedication to the Sons of the American Revolution.
