Russell becomes 13th player to sign with women’s soccer program for 2013

Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie has announced the signing of his 13th student athlete to the C-N women’s soccer program in Miami Lakes, Fla.-native Joanna Russell.

A graduate of Dade Christian High School, Russell decided to come to Carson-Newman after attending one of the program’s summer ID camps.

“Joanna is a left-footed player that we found very late in the process. After attending our ID camp this summer it was evident she would fit into our style of play,” Moodie said. “We are delighted to have her.”

Russell earned All-Dade County second team honors her junior and senior seasons for head coach Jorge Granda.  A left back, She helped DCHS to district titles in every year of her high school career.

She is the daughter of Milta Turbides. Russell plans on studying biology with an eye on becoming a dentist.
