Huffington Post Co-Developes GPS For The Soul

With the technological advances that society is facing today, there have been numerous leaps towards implementing this technology to treat a varying array of anxiety and stress disorders. Along with the many new mobile treatments for severe diagnoses, apps have recently been developed for the treatment of daily stress and motivation. The Huffington Post has recently co-developed an app for precisely this use. The app is commonly called GPS for the Soul and appears on the market as GPS4Soul. The target audience was those in need of monitoring stress or seeking a short escape from the hassle of their daily lives. However, it has developed into a sort of mobile inspiration board targeted also towards fitness fanatics and teens. The app works by allowing the user to create a “Guide” of their choice. Users can then fill their Guide with anything from their favorite pictures to accompanying music all while setting a time allotment for viewing select Guide. There is currently no limit to the number of Guides the user can create. However, the most striking aspect of this app is the Sensor. After launching the sensor, users are instructed to place the tip of their index finger over the camera lens for eighty seconds. During this time the screen will post a variety of inspiration quotes and relaxation tips. Above this, the screen will show a monitor of your heart rate in numerical and visual form. After the eighty seconds, the app will gauge your mood based on the determined heart rate. From current experience with the app, a rate ranging in fifty beats per minute yields a result of “balanced.” Each result also gives a short explanation of the meaning and tips of how to improve mood and anxiety. Users are also encouraged by the app to share results, tips, and Guides with friends in an effort to help promote positive results.
