Afternoon Pick-Up of Students by Parents at Jefferson County High School

Message to parents of Jefferson County High School Students

Parents,

We have had a very good beginning of the school year. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping us provide an environment as safe as possible for your children and our students. As part of our ongoing effort to insure student safety we find it necessary to alter pick-up time by parents in the afternoon of students at the high school.

Parents will continue to pick up students by means of the main entrance on Highway 92. However, entry into the high school by parents will not be permitted until 3:30 p.m. By not allowing double stacking of automobiles side by side it enables us to keep fire lanes open as required by law throughout the entire loading and departure process. If for some reason a student must be picked up for early dismissal, the parent must arrive before 2:45 p.m. or they will not be able to enter the campus.

Due to safety concerns, it will not be permitted for automobiles to stack up along Highway 92 as drivers wait for space and an opportunity to turn into the entrance to the high school property. We appreciate your understanding and assistance with this effort to provide additional safety and to abide by the law.

Thank you
