Spirit of Nations Powwow to Offer New Features

Spirit of Nations 1 08092013The Spirit of Nations Powwow, scheduled for August 10th in Knoxville, will be held in commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the Trail of Tears.  Because of this anniversary, new features at this year’s powwow include a Cherokee language class and Cherokee traditional dancing.  Also new this year will be a children’s area that will include face painting, children’s crafts, games, stories, and mini-lessons on the Cherokee language.

The powwow, being held in the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park near the Knoxville Zoo, will also include high quality American Indian arts and crafts, champion powwow dancers, Indian tacos, a blowgun competition, a silent auction, and more.

Hours for the powwow are 10 am to 8 pm.  Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children.  Preschool children are admitted free.  The event is sponsored by Indian Creek Productions, Inc., with details available on their website at www.indiancreekproductions.com, or by email at indiancreekproductions@gmail.com.
