As the ladies’ soccer season begins, the Lady Patriots pull off a decisive victory against Chuckey-Doak’s Black Knights in a scrimmage this past Thursday. With the final score being 3-1, the Lady Patriots’ are showing a strong determination to go to this year’s Finals. The first goal came early in the first half, giving some breathing room to the Lady Patriots. The second goal by the Patriots, also coming in the first half, came from a penalty kick. Despite the Black Knights’ aggressive offense, the Patriots managed to keep their defense strong, locking the ball to the Black Knights’ side of the field for the majority of the first half. In the second half, Chuckey-Doak’s Black Knights returned and scored their only goal with an impressive display of passing strategy and teamwork. The third quarter heated up the action from both sides, with neither team getting a break from the intense back-and-forth that ensued across the field. Later in the third quarter, the Lady Patriots’ sealed the deal with the final goal of the game. Although there were several valiant attempts, the Patriots’ goalie, senior McKenna Loges, shut down the Black Knights for the remainder of the half. The next scrimmage for the Lady Patriots will be a jamboree at University High on Saturday, August 10.
