Darrell Waltrip to headline Carson-Newman NASCAR Celebrity Roast Bristol Race Week event to Benefit Boys and Girls Club

Carson-Newman University invites race fans to start their engines for Bristol race week with a NASCAR celebrity roast featuring racing legend Darrell Waltrip.

The University will present the event benefiting The Boys and Girls Club of Dumplin Valley on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. on the school’s Jefferson City campus. The roast is open to the public with an admission of $20 a person. In addition to Waltrip, the panel will also include drivers David Ragan, David Gilliland, Josh Wise and Michael McDowell.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to host this special event featuring such an amazing line-up of racing talent,” said Carson-Newman University President Randall O’Brien. “We look forward to helping do our part to benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Dumplin Valley.”

A VIP meet-and-greet session is available beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to both the roast and VIP session is $50 a person. Tickets and donations can be purchased online at: http://ow.ly/nL4Yf

Attendees can also bid on one-of-a-kind racing memorabilia and other sports items at a silent auction during the event. All proceeds for the evening will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Dumplin Valley.

The NASCAR Roast is in coordination with Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway race week. The Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, Aug. 24, will feature the No. 35 Carson-Newman University Ford Fusion driven by Front Row Motorsports’ Josh Wise in partnership with Ted Russell Ford and Premier Maintenance.
