Tennessee Smokies host Carson-Newman night at Smokies Park

CN Talon2The Tennessee Smokies will host Carson-Newman faculty, staff, parents and alumni at Smokies Park Saturday, August 24 for Carson-Newman University night. Game time is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. EST.

Fans are being asked to wear their college gear to the stadium to help celebrate College Colors Night to support universities in the area.

The game marks the 13th season that Carson-Newman and the Smokies will partner dating back to the franchise’s move to Kodak, Tenn.

Along with the celebration, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a free dog calendar presented by Frontline and Heartgard. American clown Myron Noodleman will make an appearance to entertain fans throughout the game as well as Eagles’ mascot Talon.

Tennessee holds the advantage in the North Division of the Southern League for the final playoff spot in the league playoffs that will begin the first week of September.

The Smokies are the Chicago Cubs’ Double-A affiliate in the Southern and will take on the Mobile BayBears, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Double-A team. The Smokies have been located in East Tennessee for over 100 seasons.
