Tuesday August 22nd, 2013, Jefferson County High School announced that Gaines Cox would be replacing former JCHS Baseball Coach Josh Warner at the helm of the Patriots. Warner resigned from Jefferson County High School in late July to go to Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and the move left Jefferson County in search of a new head coach. Following an extensive search, Coach Gaines Cox, who came from Maury Middle school and previously coached in the Knox County School System, was chosen to lead the Patriots. In his introductory speech, he discussed the importance of having the support of his wife and children as he takes on the challenge of directing the Patriots Baseball team. Jefferson County High School Baseball is coming off of a strong season and under Warner’s watch Holland Field enjoyed a facelift. Coach Cox expressed that he is ready and willing to keep the momentum going. He plans to focus on the fundamentals of the game and aggressively working toward post season competition. Coach Cox stated that he plans on keeping Coach Zack Reece, who served as an assistant coach under Warner, as a part of his staff.
