Moving Day for Prince William and New Family

Hello darlings, the 21 room “apartment” (which includes a drawing room, staff quarters, and the much talked about nursery) is known simply as Apartment 1A.  It is located in Kensington Palace and was the residence of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden during the 1960’s.  Princess Margaret was not exactly the epitome of grace and elegance, as her sister Queen Elizabeth.  Her choice of colors with the “hip” orange, pink, and turquoise color scheme is being totally changed for this latest royal family.  Princess Margaret’s choice of colors, being the swinging rage, did not surprise me.  I well remember Princess Margaret walking through an elegant ballroom in Dallas, smoking while walking, puffing to her heart’s content.  In the Southern Belle realm, a truly elegant lady would never smoke while walking. Especially while walking in an elegant ball room with ladies so refined and bred with manners from the time of birth.  I shall never forget the loud hum of chatter as Margaret fell from grace in Dallas society due to her not so lady-like behavior. Oh well, there is nothing wrong with orange, pink and turquoise color choices, but it just does not fit with the elegant royal tradition in Kensington Palace

Prince William and Kate, it seems, are tying to breathe a bit of modern style, while respecting the traditional style of the monarchy. The team of designers must be under a lot of stress to blend in the modern style, with perfection, for the royal family moving into their “apartment” in Kensington Palace. Having their own private garden is a plus for the royals.  It seems this is a source of delight for the royal couple and Prince George.

It has been reported by many in the royal realm, that Kate makes Wills’ favorite baked chicken. And this may come as a surprise, there is a little known cookbook by a commoner who cooked for her king. Yes, my darlings, Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, wrote a cookbook (Some Favorite Southern Recipes of The Duchess of Windsor).  Maryland Fried Chicken was the Duke’s favorite.

So, my advice is to follow the ancient saying, “the way to a man‘s heart is through his stomach”.  It certainly worked for these two women to capture the hearts of their royals—or knights in shining armor.

What fun it shall be to see the royal quarters of Prince William and his new family in the latest and best magazines.  Darlings, let’s have high tea at 2 pm and chat about the décor of Kensington Palace, apartment 1A, when the publications are released!
