Men’s soccer seals close match with a win in exhibition play

Carson-Newman came out with the “W” against the University of the Cumberlands 5-4.

Freshman Marius Staalby (Trondheim, Norway) made his collegiate debut with a hat trick (3 goals.) He opened up the scoring with a header goal.

Juniors Jake Fielder (Talbot, Tenn.) and Ross Frame (Welshpool, Powys, UK) put up additional points for Carson-Newman. Fielder scored his first collegiate goal to enhance the team’s lead.

Frame, a transfer from Cardiff Metropolitan, preserved the win with the Eagle’s fifth goal.

Senior Lucas Siqueira obtained a red card and will be ineligible to play in the next match.

Carson-Newman continues its preseason with another exhibition match against Lees-McRae at home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
