Lady Eagles picked eighth in preseason cross country coaches’ poll

Carson-Newman’s women’s cross country team has been picked eighth by South Atlantic Conference coaches’ in the league’s preseason poll, the conference office announced Thursday.

The Lady Eagles finished seventh at last year’s conference meet.

C-N returns Megan Farjellah, Amanda Bowman and Aiyana Martino as top performers from a year ago, but must replace all-conference runner Hannah Reese.

Farjellah closed 2012 strong with 22:12 and 22:21 marks at the Tennessee Tech Invitational and the SAC championships, respectively – the junior’s two best times last year.

Bowman has a pair of to 20 finishes to her name with a 21:40 performance at the Greensboro Invitational and a 14th place finish. She matched that time – her best of 2012 – at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.

Martino’s best finish came at the Tennessee Tech Invitational with a time of 23:30.57.

Carson-Newman’s men’s cross country team is picked 12th.
