Where to pick

I am looking forward to doing a little fall picking with my daughters and was wondering if you know of local farms that allow you to pick your own fruit? This will be our first time to do anything like this but I think that it will be a good experience for my 4 and 6 year olds.

With the coming of fall, it is a good time to do a little local picking. It is still a little early for pumpkins, however when the time is right I suggest that you go early in the season to get the best pick possible. Now is a fairly good time to pick apples and they are a favorite of young children. They are easy to pick and easy to eat, not to mention that they smell good. Not knowing where you are located, my best suggestion would be to consult the Pick Tennessee website or Vacation Tennessee. Both have really good information about local farms, including what they produce, hours of operation and sometimes a website. Some places are more child friendly than others and the excessive rain has impacted some crops. Good luck and happy picking!
