Jefferson County’s First Responders and support staff were honored by Jefferson County students involved in the SkillsUSA organization on Tuesday evening. The students fed around 100 at the Hero’s Supper, which was held on the lawn of Jefferson County High School. The annual event offers students the opportunity to interact with those that dedicate their time to public service and the group and their sponsors work hard to prepare for the event. Departments that may not have the opportunity to spend time together enjoy gathering for their evening meal. Even Ace, the Highway Patrol’s Canine Officer who specializes in explosives, was excited to meet and greet the other First Responders. SkillsUSA is a career technical service organization that promotes leadership skills, community service and social skills. The Hero’s Supper is one of the ways that students give back to those that support and protect the community.
