Ag Day 2013 promises new venue, new take on UT Institute of Agriculture

Exciting changes, including a new location inside the recently renovated Brehm Animal Science Arena, await visitors to Ag Day 2013. Ag Day is the annual event for alumni and friends of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture.

Festivities will begin on Oct. 5. four hours before the Vols take on the Georgia Bulldogs in Neyland Stadium. Current and former students, faculty, staff and friends will celebrate reunions and learn what’s new at the UT Institute of Agriculture.

This year’s theme, “If you think you know ag, think again,” focuses on technological advancements and efficiencies in agriculture, as well as unexpected agricultural career paths. A presentation of two inaugural awards, the Horizon Award and the Meritorious Service Award, will be made. Tours of the new Large Animal Hospital at the UT Veterinary Medical Center and the renovated Food Science and Brehm Animal Science buildings will be given.

Ag Day RSVPs are encouraged and can be submitted at http://tiny.utk.edu/AgDay. A block of football tickets has been reserved. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.UTtix.com, scroll over Vols Tickets and select the Group Ticket Window. The case-sensitive sign-in ID is “agday” and the password is “2013.”

Ag Day is fun for all ages. Enjoy live music, live animals, free ice cream, visiting with UT Knoxville’s mascot Smokey, an insect petting zoo, children’s activities and so much more! A meal will be available for purchase from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources’ Student Livestock Association.
