Hebron Presbyterian Church, a part of the Dumplin Valley community since its organization in 1875, recently received a face lift. The renovation to the historical building was courtesy of the hard work of the Hebron Church family and with the help of the community. In a re-dedication service on Sunday, September 15, 2013, members of the church and visitors gathered to witness the rebirth of a building and re-commitment to the sanctity of its service. Hebron Presbyterian Church Pastor Paul Brewer led the re-dedication service and Jim Pethel lent his considerable musical talent to the service. Marge Stefaniak gave the recognition of those that had dedicated their time and labor to the project. Pastor Brewer read two letters to the audience, one from a former member and one from Senator Lamar Alexander. In the correspondence, Alexander discussed his connection to the Hebron Presbyterian Church via his ancestor Richard Rankin. William Bradshaw and Rankin founded the Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church. During the Civil War, the Church was divided in loyalties and resulted in a split of the church. Hebron Presbyterian Church was born of that split and the Rankins provided the land for the new church building site. Alexander sent his regrets at missing the ceremony but shared in the congregation and community pride in the renovation of the old building.
